Is ( A definitely 8 letters? Kibosh would fit - KI/K1 (mountain/Masherbrum) and Sob, weep convulsively, and H, hotel. Kibosh, rubbish.

1 Knocker, critic. Kn is (Ken eviscerated, emptied) and Ocker is boorish in Australia (I think!)

Hi elle,

I am not very good at getting a start on this crossword, once I have a couple of clues in the frame then I can generally finish it and also the doctor has told me to keep my mind active.

I do appreciate all the help that everyone gives me on this site.

Many thanks

John

John, I was the same when I first started on cryptics. I needed a couple just to give me a kickstart. You do well to finish the i cryptic, as it is often tricky in places.

Hello, John!

Now you have made me feel dreadful!
But I was just genuinely puzzled as to why there were never any letters!
I hope we have all helped a little - and you are wise to keep your mind active!!
We are all trying to do the same!
All the best!

P. S. I couldn't make any sense out of clue no 8d?
