Good morning all. Feeling remarkably thick today. Only actually solved five clues. So a HINT ONLY please to help break the blockade... let's see. 3 down might be a place to go. Orphaned thus sat out to collect money (4,3,3,5).
I have ????/???/??T/???N?. I can see an anagram indicated and the possible definition at the end or am I barking up the wrong tree. Help!

It is an anagram of

orphaned thus sat

def. is "to collect money" (in an item of clothing)

I thought that there were some lovely clues in this one; for example
Cut the funny business - had the shakes to risk your lfe (4,4,5)
Mournfully noted that loo door's broken! (8)
Sign under phone to get really empty literature on the move (6,7)

One I've a slight question about
After losing energy, I needed Indian vegetable (6)

What is the "needed" doing? "Got", or similar, would be better, surely?

The "i" is needed after you have the first 5 letters of the answer ?

I'm reading it as "After losing energy" + I to give the vegetable; hence the "needed" isn't.......um.......needed.

The compiler is just saying that "i"is needed to get the answer after the first 5 solved. Seems fine to me

Yes, it's a minor point, but I think

after *(e)**** , then "i"

is all that is "needed"
