Quirky, with some very tricky clues. I'm stuck on 11 (which is one of the ones requiring adjustment, so putting in the crossing letters to a checking program is no help). Any hints?
Good evening. As ever I am totally confused. I think I have 46a/12d/13d but they do not fit and I am not far enough along to have any idea of what the instruction could be. The Upton Times means not a thing and I am feeling very dispirited. 9d I think I have but cannot parse it and it does seem to make a mess of 18a......unless of cpurse I have messed up 10d. Some extremely heavy hints would be most welcome as I am thoroughly fed up!
As far as I can see, manic mary, 46a and 12d need thematic adjustment but 13d does not. 9d goes in without alteration, but 18a does not. Look up the second and third digits of 18a.
I'm almost there, but 33a is still frustrating me.
Hi throck - 33a is a French city and an O is extra in the wordplay. I don't know what you mean by the 2nd and 3rd digits of 18a - letters? In the answer or clue?
Thank you all. Sudukulover I have tried your suggestion but it only covers what I already seem to have managed. I am no-where near knowing in what way they 'oddities' need to be adapted. I can't even seem to get the correct misprint letters for the ones I have done, I have a E for 33a and can't for the life of me see where the O comes from Orson, will plod on with ever decreasing hope.
