You look like you're doing fine! Much further on than me. Could you give me a hint for 1a) and/or 1d) please?

1a definition is the first three words. 1d is a double definition. Think "eggs" for the first one.

1a is a person who would praise 5 letter synonym for threshhold inside 7 letter old synonym for counting person
1d the answer could be a collective noun for eggs, chickens ...defn take firmly in hand

Part of the problem with 1a) is that the clue says it is a 10 letter answer, but there are 12 squares in the grid. Which is right?

Another guardian mistake! It's 12 .... grid is always symmetrical
