14, Uist is hidden in the clue.
Uist is a Scottish island.

The best curling stones come from the island of "Ailsa Craig".
Excellent granite there.

I was thinking of curlers as in waves on a beach.
And trying to work out where the conquistadores didn't go.
Obviously I was far from the correct answers.
