Finished, but I think that there must be a mistake in this clue:

14d Flower, that is, with insect in row (9)

Also, where does the first letter come from (if I'm right) in 6d
For dressing stone (5)
(My last 4 letters could be a dressing)

Aha! Wrong first letter. I had a C (which does give a stone, or, more accurately, rock)

To clarify, I think 14d should read
Flower, for example, with insect in row.

14 clue looks okay. two letters for that is and an insect inside another word for a row
6d first letter is an abbreviation for For + the dressing - must say haven't heard of this abbreviation

For 14 I have another word for the briar. It fits all the crossers and parses if there were a "for example" instead of a "that is". Is my answer wrong?

Hi Chris - I am sure you have the correct answer for the briar. I agree that strictly speaking it should be for example but over the years I have seen several setters using "that is" as "for example" . Not good though !

Mostly easy this week, I thought. However...

1, Accepting your hints for 14d gives me -R-O-G- for 16a and I can't find a word to fit. Nor can Puzzlex or Quick Solve.

2. The solution to !0a is presumably one of the Great Lakes, but who's the disheartened boy?

I am struggling with 1D Untidy dresser has second thought, to talk big. (9). Because of this am still stuck with 2 crossers 7 and12. Help appreciated.
