You worst clue of the week, awarded weekly on a week-by-week basis ['It's Been A Bad Week' - Punt & Dennis] is quite good. Take 'toe' away from 'total use' and you have the answer. It is an ankle bone - you're quite right.

No it does not begin with "c". Look at the first two words (that is) - and their abbreviation, then add another word for cook
