All done, but I can't parse 5D - "Brilliant form of 'therapy? There's something not quite right." Answer: 'defect' .
'd' = "diamond"= "brilliant", but 'efect' = "form of therapy '??
Can someone make my quietus, please?

Def - slang for brilliant and ECT - electro convulsive therapy?

Def = brilliant, I think it's slang, from Definitely. ECT is the therapy, Electro-Convulsive Therapy.

Thanks Ab and Malone. I don't think "def" has got to this part of Sussex yet!. Now for the Saturday Jumbo cryptic. KRs. gharbij ihn.

You're welcome. Def might not have got to your part of Sussex yet, but it's made its way into Chambers! It means 'excellent or brilliant (originally in hip-hop culture).'

Yes, Malone, it's in my 2005 Chambers. I must stretch out a bit further from my armchair in future and get it off the shelf. But I still don't think many of us will be using "def" at Age UK. If we do, I suspect it will "deaf" misspelt' (or 'misspelled'?) Cheers. g,i.
