40dn, 'Mineral the writer found in first catalogue?', (9), L?M?S?O?E. LIMESTONE? Why? And Limestone, according to Chambers, is a rock, not a mineral.

Limestone is made up of dead stuff that's millions of years old and forming Calcium Carbonate and some other minerals, I think?

Just checked Google, toffer, and it does say it's made up of dead coral and molluscs that form Calcite.
Also just looked in my Chambers and you're correct that it doesn't mention 'Mineral' but it does mention that it's sedimentary rock which I think are all classed as minerals, I may be wrong though. Too late to worry about now, maybe someone who has more knowledge of this will clarify it for us

In matters geological I flounder very quickly. Mrs Bradford omits limestone as a mineral.

Chambers does say:
Mineral - A substance neither animal nor vegetable

All rocks are minerals
