Anyone on here still doing this? I miss the chat. Thought the last two week's puzzles a big improvement on recent offerings.

Hi teenieleek
Yes, I'm still at it with a few questions -
1. Is 36d Scout and if so why?
2. I can't spot the Shakespearean characters in the lines starting with 12a, 32a and 42a and would certainly appreciate help there.
3. Do you know which character he is referring to (not occupying the whole entry)

2 The character is near the end.
3 The character is only part of the word - the others are all complete words. If you've got the character in the line with 15 A, you've already got it!

Farr, my earlier post, about point 2, referred to the row with 12 A. For the rows with 32 and 42, remember that the character occupies the whole entry.

Thank you Malone - as always.
Getting there slowly!
By the way is scout right for 36d? Why?

36 D. He divulges who acted as a barrier (5) Snout.

A Snout is an informer, snitch - and there's also a Shakespeare character with that name. The latter acted as a wall, barrier.
