It's certainly been a challenge this week, with the Times Numero Uno compiler for difficulty let loose!
Re 33 Down, for which the clue is:- "Tart, last in rundown
second street, grabbing the nearest pole.", I guess the
answer must be SOUTHERNMOST? I'm wavering because
NORTHERNMOST also fits and I haven't yet fully parsed the
clue.
Another clue, 46 Down, is:- "Struck - and mugged, reportedly?" I'm imagining that the answer must be SHAFTED and not SWATTED or some other word meaning "struck" - only I can't associate "strike" with "shaft".

46 Swatted sounds like Swotted, mugged (as in mugged up, learned).

33 Southernmost - it has sour/tart in it.

Thanks for that, scorpiojo - I knew the parsing for 'southernmost' was on the lengthy side!

I'd taken a punt on northernmost and shafted. Thanks for the clarification Malone and Scorpiojo
