Last one: 4 across "City witches go for. I've got ?O?A?T?Y.
That's if "Oregano","Auger", Thunderbolt" and "Yelled", the down clues, are right.

Also struggling to parse 28 across. I've put "Turgenev" based on the shortened "Geneva" but where does the "tur" bit come from.
Over the last two weeks or so, parsing the answers has been more difficult for me even than getting the answer once one of you helpful people have given it.

I couldn't help with 28 A as you didn't give the clue - it's always better to include it as people without the paper can help.

28 A. Author's short book about most of Swiss city (8)

The short book is Rut(h) (in the Bible, I assume). It becomes Tur as the clue has 'about', then add Genev(a) as you said,

Tur genev, Turgenev, author.
