Struggling with the end game here. Are the 'certain letters' from the type 2 answers the ones that have dropped down?

That's fine (but for a minute, I thought your last post was a nudge, which would be helpful! Reading left to right, I have a sequence beginning with N and ending with T.)

My sequence began O and ended E. Typec2 answers begin at 1 D.

Considering that the wordplay in Type 2 Down clues gives the grid entry and not the defined clue answer, the statement in the preamble that "Type 2 Down clues are normal" is surely inaccurate ?
