If you mean a wordfinder, there are lots of superior ones online (not a satisfactory present, I know!)

I use:
http://www.chambers.co.uk/word-wizard.php

http://www.onelook.com/
(which has very useful filters)

and
http://crossword-solver.org/

The latter one does multi-word anagrams too.

Seiko, and Franklin, make electronic ones.
You can find them on Amazon, with reviews.
I have no idea if they are any good or not.

Dear Pluto, I use a SEIKO OXFORD CROSSWORD SOLVER which I bought from Argos, it was a bit more expensive than some of the smaller ones but the smaller ones letter buttons tend to wear out unlike the Seiko which I have now- he says tempting fate !- Pleydell

I have two, the Seiko Oxford and the Franklin Collins Bradford's. Each has some advantages over the other.

The Seiko (ER3700) has bigger buttons, a larger display and a more comprehensive dictionary. It can also solve multiple word crossword answers (use spaces to separate words) which the Franklin can't do. However, the Franklin (CSB-1470U) has a very useful and wide-ranging "Crossword Lists" application which is missing from the Seiko.

For a really good present I would get both but, if you're only up for one, go for the Seiko.
