Quite a good one this week which shouldn't take more than 35 minutes to finish. A couple of quite nice clues.

The first is an appropriate résumé for the target:

10D TV presenter upsetting no brains? None! (4,8)

The second is just a very good clue:

18A Complicated birth inanely handled (12)

Agreed, John, and both of those clues stand out from the rest. If 'Old Gal' happens to read our comments, I think that it's high time that she finished the RT crossword [she confessed her guilt last week]and perhaps she'd like to post any clues with which she'd like assistance.

I did post a For the attention of... after I read her comments, likening us to 'white knights who would come riding to her assistance' but either she wasn't impressed with the rhetoric or thought it was a load of bulls**t ...

Hi John from Arran and caravaggio
I managed 10 and 18 today promptly, but would like explanations (and answers) to7 across and
to 19 down. My calculator gives bucketsful of
possibilities. Hope the 'fresh' dust hasn't
reached Arran today.
Keep smiling.

7a is an abbreviated version of a police rank which also means really good.
19d the word is contained in the clue. Think of an alternative meaning (and pronuciation) of supply.

Thanks Torvil,
I enjoyed your subtle approach to supple and
now realise supply can be something other than
chocolate (forbidden). I cannot find anything to
Say "really good" for young men joining a service:
my P.C. didn't help here. Still stuck with Henchcliff and Heathcliff for kink in golf course.

Old gal,
That big little word - IF you were a young single
girl you would do 3 down.

Go directly South-East from the Isle of Pladda at the south end of Arran and you'll come to the golf course in question.

Keep going, Old Gal, we all have moments like that with this compiler! I'm glad you've joined us - if nothing else, it proves we're not sexist...
