I couldn't even do 1 across!
At least, I did it but the clue surely cannot be correct?

Little creature with face of eight or nine? (4)
I've got "cube"
cub- little creature
e - face of eight
but the definition cannot be "nine?
There is no number cubed that will give nine?

Help needed, please!

Jazzy - I don't take the times except on Sunday - I came across the Times forum many years ago by accident.

Perhaps the setter intended to put Little creature with the backside of nine or eight? but decided it was touch rude and changed the clue at the last minute.
