tablelands - mesa (anagram of same)means table in spanish?

Mesa is a geographical term meaning tableland.
The remaining one I'm reckoning is an anagram of "hopper" with men, or something like that.

PHEROMONE
"hopper" and "men" (for pieces) as an anagram.
It's a bad clue, imho, with the "to" in it.

And yes, I'm certainly wrong, since I can't get two p's out of "HOPPER".
It's a shame this forum doesn't have the ability to properly sign up to, by the way.
