Hi,

I have a few clues for which I have the answers but need just a little explaining:

1. Two British bands snub One Direction; Toyah's no 1 is impassioned (8)
- I know the answer to this must be ELOQUENT (one of the British bands being ELO perhaps?, but I would love some more help explaining)

2. Corrupt, if there's no place for aunt's chap (5)
Clearly this is UNCLE but help please?

3. Man wearing a silly costume gets tip-off on racecourse (5)
ASCOT, but help?

4. Denial made in front a judge but later changed (8)
'Denial' here is the definition, but help?

5. This gun, modified around barrel's end, is one way to kill a vampire (8)
DAYLIGHT, but......?

6. Where you might find refreshment at a soirée, bash, ball (5,4)
PUNCH BOWL, but how is this a cryptic definition?

7. Slip of the tongue maybe breaks no promises (10)
SPOONERISM - I believe the letters can be found here, but how is that indicated?

8. Property magnate died the day before a bounder (9)
?????????

Many thanks in advance to all who are able to help!
