Dismissed, dismissed, dismissed foolishness and greed (8)

The answer seems to be cupidity. But why?

Bit of a cricket thing going on here:

C (caught, ie 'dismissed') + STUPIDITY ('foolishness') with ST (stumped, ie 'dismissed') 'dismissed' (deleted).

For the wordplay to work properly, the second comma should really be between 'dismissed' and 'foolishness'.

Cupidity - greed - using st (stumped) c (caught) cricketing terms for dismissed/out - stupidity minus st - replaced by C
