Stuck, irritatingly, on the last two - two footling little ones to boot :

8D - Speaker's useless crack (4)
B?I?
&
51D - Girl's unopened drink (4)
?A?S - I thought this might be LASS from LASSI, but then surely "unfinished" rather than "unopened".

I await advice from wiser heads......

51d could be from (G)LASS

8 Vein, crack (it sounds like Vain, useless, as 'in vain')
51 Lass - the drink was Glass and drop the G, unopened.

Re 8 D, the answer giving you the B is wrong - the playwright wasn't Wilder, it was Welles. (I've no longer got the paper, so can't remember the exact wording).

Thanks to Bambi123 & Malone for their responses, esp to Malone for explaining my mistake with 8A.
