I'm stuck on 8 Across (9):

For those who don't have the puzzle in front of them, this is a very poor clue.

8A - Gradual change to back road to US airport (9)

Start with an angram of GRADUAL then add the name of the lowest numbered A road in Britain written backwards and you end up with and American airport. The number of letters is also wrong and should be (2,7) not (9).

Thanks John - this is one of the poorest clues I've ever seen but allows me to complete the crossword. Many thanks for your help

If this is one of the poorest clues you have seen, you can't have been doing the RT crossword for long!!

Every week there seems to be at least one that makes you cringe.

Laguardia (NY Airport) ?

Yes, the answer is LAGUARDIA but, as I thought it was one word and not two, I have just Googled it and it is spelt LaGuardia which, amusingly, is a hybrid of one and two words...
