NB:

WSJ has changed the access to the puzzles. The links now lead directly to a download.
I think I've found a way around that so I can post them. We'll see shortly.

It turned out to be on the easy side.

"enlisted VIP" comprises the last 3 letters, with "enlisted" as an adjective.
The others are privates.
(Insert off-colour joke here.)

Hope they have a tougher puzzle soon.
Check the math puzzles at the link in post #1 & see how much you remember from school.
Could be an eye-opener.

thanks, i guessed some sport might be involved.
i've already copied the 1st maths puzzle, not had a go yet. i gave myself a little algebra refreshment about 5 years ago, just basic stuff, not sure i'll even remember that let alone what i did at school.

Unfortunately went to all girl's school.
Liked biology though.
