Having trouble with some of the parsing, help appreciated....

27a. Queen in opera in state capital (8) - ADELAIDE (State capital)

I originally thought it might have something to do with AIDA, but now I don't, and I can't see what it is.

35a. Smooth-faced orderly with own put in tin (5,6) - CLEAN SHAVEN (Smooth-faced)

I think 'Own' might be HAVE, but that's about as far as I get.

34d. One leading the way of course - crossword compiler! (11) - TRENDSETTER (One leading the way)

I assume 'Crossword compiler' = SETTER, but how do you get 'TREND' from the rest?

2d. Exclusive group in secret society (5,6) - INNER CIRCLE

Which is the definition and which is the wordplay?

Queen Adelaide was the wife of William IV, but I don't see the opera.

A TREND is a COURSE (of events, say)
