Help with parsing last two please:

25A "Run away from thin ham?" (5). I have E_O_E, so looks like Elope, but what has this to do with "thin ham"?

28A "Volunteer as killer" (5). I have O_F_R so looks like Offer, but what has "as killer" to do with this?

Silly to be stuck on such short answers, but can't make head or tail of the parsing!!

28a - slangish to off someone = to kill thus OFFER = killer

25a - has already been answered - (r) emote but can't remember parsing - sorry

25 Emote, ham/overact. It's 'remote'/thin (chance of winning the lottery, perhaps?), with the 'r' removed, 'run away'.

28 An Offer would be someone who kills/offs somebody.
