why dont they try doing something useful

at 0730 there were 53 pages = 1060 threads of you know what (one of which was over 40 lines in the subject line !)
All cleared by 0815

...but the day is young.......we live in hope

Well done Ash indeed! I was sat in my Jim jams eating breakfast deleting as fast as I could and he takes all the credit. It took me over half an hour, I had just finished deleting and he sends me a message asking if I had deleted because he was about to do it.

He is at this moment taking measures to thwart the spammers, let's hope he succeeds.

One measure he has taken seems to have stopped them for now, hence his message about difficulty posting. I started a separate thread for this to make sure it was seen.
