I need help with 17d: have -o-p-r--. Can only think of corporal but can't quite tie up the clue to it.
Also 26a: have d---. Can only think of dope but also doesn't make sense with the clue!!

And it doesn't make sense to us either, without the clues

It is very hard to help without knowing the clues.
However - I think Corporal came from the word Corporeal.(answered earlier)
