The club is a mediaeval weapon used as a club. There's also one on the table in front of the despatch box in the House of Commons. As a spice it's the outer sheath of nutmeg.

Oh dear. There's me giving hints and the answers beat me. Ah well I'll go back to struggling with the Guardian before I get dressed and go for the Observer.

No problem Jazzy. I just like to show off. I've a lovely one though. My wife often needs help with the Guardian quick crossword. She came across a clue in , I think yesterday's. "Establishment selling playthings" (4,3) Her answer before I put her right was "sex shop" I love her!
