A few more for you. My brain is sodden with all this rain....
1. Just beats time signal (4) ***s. Is it pips? Doubt it as this is a cryptic crossword.
2. Sticking on some point? (8) **P*L*N*.
3. Enlisted regulars as an alternative (4) E*S*. Is it ELSE? If so why?
I need full explanations as to how you arrived at the answer please.....then I will still be bamboozled.....me feeling daft as a brush at the mo.

Still don't fully understand. Why "on some point"? Seems too simple to be correct as Saga is usually more cryptic.

The Saga crosswords have changed since a new compiler has been introduced.nThey are now much more simple, and in my view nowhere near as cryptic
