I' d put 'anno domini' = advancing age for this, AB.
But cannot fully parse it? please can you explain?

I get the 'mini' bit!

Don't have crossword so just saw " mini" and made leap with an and nod for motion and o mini for old car. Doesn't seem kosher though.....
