Anyone out there cracking the Irish Times cryptic crossword without fail?

Wife, grandchildren and cat would be eternally grateful should some good Samaritan be willing to point this old fossil in the right direction. For, even knowing the answers, does not always help.

Keep the little grey cells active and have a great day.

Basil.

You'd think the cat would be more of a help?

Help especially from a 'blow-in' like yours truly would be appreciated.

For instance: 15,767
26 d. Break in - it sounds like the car reversing inside (6)
I figured 'Interrupt' for break in but got no further.
The answer IRRUPT is a new word for me so I've learned something!
Is the car RR (Rolls Royce) ?
If so where does 'reversing inside' fit?

It doesn't say 'Cat' does it??

Purr reversed in 'It'

maybe 'purr' inside 'it'. Do cars purr?

Hi, Basil!
According to Chambers, a car engine can 'purr' so, as Mamya says, 'purr' reversed in 'it'

To be fair, I mentioned 'cat' - Albert stuck with car.

The engines of posh cars certainly do purr :-)
