Rossim, I agree, "up north" would have been much better.
Jazzgirl, Goodness! Allan Sherman! How the years roll away...
Rosalind, Our Irish neighbours always said "Mammy". Us kids always said,and still say, "Mam" or "our Mam."
Then one day we were taken for a treat to Lewis's for tea and I said "Mam" and, speaking with a ventriloquist's mouth, she said "While we're in here I'm "Mum".
