Gender free and positive terms would be good but haven't reached all of the crossword compilers yet, I cringe at Idiot cropping up as it does, and Madman for psychopath! as if women can't be ! although mad is a rather derogatory term too! Words have the power to change people even in puzzles.

People have the power to change what irks them too - maybe try setting some clues/grids and forwarding to a publication?
