I finished it but the parsing of one eludes me: 16A idol, notice, following heart, frequently extreme? Far from it. (6-2-3-4). It is obviously middle of the road but I've tried anagrams, middle for heart etc to try to parse it to no end. Help!

middle - heart
oft - frequently
hero - idol
ad - notice (advertisement)

heart: middle
frequently: oft
idol: hero
notice: ad

heart: middle
frequently: oft
idol: hero
notice: ad
