5d. Characters following every part of her conditons. (3) IFS

Conditons = ifs, OK, but what about the first part of the clue? There seems to be no IFS acronym that would be relevant. Somethng to do with sHERrifs, or SERIF font perhaps?

It is the three letters alphabetically preceding the three letters of HER. So H precedes I, E precedes F and R precedes S
