9 letters - Getting on a bit in German locality of battle where valuable metal can be found. I think g-l-f-a--. Anybody help pls, last clue if others are correct

I think this is GOLDFIELD, not GOLDFLAKE. Though I might be wrong!

Got to admit Percy's answer looks better. Perhaps your "a" is wrong.

Just to confirm that it is GOLDFIELD as the rogue "a" is an "e" from 19d Trooped out to see missile -TORPEDO.
