Seems I`m the first! Only two problems today - both little ones! 23 ac: Bird sound made by Dr. No (5) I assume they want a bird. The only one with `u` in it I can think of is `ousel`. ? U ? ? ? . 21 D : Smooth, unopened light coat (4) H ? ? ? . Any hints gratefully received ! Mags.

I have an expression for "completely lacking water", but I can't see a "layer".

I`ve just realised I haven`t got 1 d. either. 4 d - the word for a quantity of herring, add a letter to make a word meaning an odd person. The word I found for `louse` doesn`t seem to fit, either ! I can`t see `layer` - I `m thinking of `hen` but can`t fit it in. I thought I`d finished all but 21 D Mags,.
