Not a crossword but a footie quiz set up by my friend. I'm one away from finishing but stuck on the last one. Any ideas?

Lofty, adjacent and comely

Others have been along the lines of these:
We shall seize each fixture as we encounter it = We'll take each game as it comes.

The chafe of emerald coloured surface was withheld from us = The rub of the green goes against you.

Cheers

only thing I can think of is
high wide and handsome

But adjacent, wide; don't think so.
Let's see what other suggestions emerge.

thanks for your suggestions. I'm not that in the know of football terms, are either of these football related?
