For 25d I thought anagram of "I cancel" less "n" and could only think of what your hints point to but couldn't (and still can't) see where "an American's personal space" fits.

I only picked this up an hour ago to relax after doing my gardening, but was completely stumped, only getting18d. I agree with Chrise, I think the old solver's is completely unnecessary.
