Thanks for the update, tonta - too often it is frustrating not to know the solutions.

Elle - "banjaxed" is a term popularised (if not invented( by Terry Wogan.

Thanks for that titbit of info, Chris! I see in Chambers that it's an Anglo- Irish word! (altho it doesn't mention Terry Wogan!)

Just found it in Chambers 12th but not in 1972 edition or any previous editions. Shown as Anglo-Irish

Thanks for the feedback - some of these local crosswords can indeed be infuriating.

I think we can let Mr Wogan off the hook for Banjaxed , it dates to the 1930's though not much more known.
