This always seems to have a few devious, perverse and arguably plain wrong clues. Anyway I think I'm down to the last one:

drawback, tense (5)

W.N.E which seems to lead to WINCE or WINGE but I can't really see why.

But what has "hoist/winch" to do with the clue?
Imho the clue should read "(to) draw back" i.e.verb, "tense" referring to the state one is in at the time, then it would be "(to) WINCE" !!!
