I have completed the grid but cannot not understand how 'the shorts' lead to a title. Can someone please get me on the right path. Is there any reason why I should not submit the answer without a title? Confused!

What do all your across unclued start with - put them in pairs.
What do your down unclued....

'Ilse' is part of 'Thameslink' in reverse, i.e. in reflection!

Yes, your letters are correct.

PS. There was an earlier Spectator thread which mentioned 6A, that might help you finish off.
