I've completed the crossword - correctly I think!
According to the preamble:
" Eight solutions are individuals of a kind, not further defined in their clues."

I reckon I can parse all the answers I have but I can only find 7 "individuals of a kind" and as far as I can see these are the only 7 that are "not further defined in their clues."

Anyone else who is doing this crossword having the same problem - or am I missing something (which I guess is quite likely!)

That's better - think the instructions are misleading.

I have 8 - 4 across clues and 4 down clues

Interesting - I have 4 down and 3 across that I'm sure of - is 6across one? I've googled my answer to that and there is an "individual of a kind" that sort of fits but I would have thought much too obscure (at least to me) to fit with the others - and I would say the clue is "further defined" (may be wrong there!)

Yes, I now have a fifth. I've just stood in front of my well-stacked shelves and written down all the names that look appropriate - trouble is, I can't fit any of them in!
