I know this is a bit downmarket for the brainy types here, but I like doing the Concise Crossword in the Indie/little i.
The first 2 (sometimes 3) across answers always make up a pun, e.g. Saturday's was 'hair' + 'belle', making 'harebell'. I normally romp through this crossword in a couple of minutes, but today I'm completely stuck on the pun. Maybe it's because I can't quite get my head around the clues being on the left instead of the right today (why?), but I can't see what this is:
1A Burden (4) -A-E Was thinking of BANE or CARE but they're not quite right
4A Plunder (4) S-C- presumably SACK
Any ideas? The next across answer appears to be INCUBUS (Demon = I-C-B-S), which doesn't make it look like a 3-word pun.
