Hi there,

I've got a fair few gaps today, so grateful for any suggestions/help with the following:-

1a (6) 'Pinching a small amount of money, managed to get caught'. I've got ?o?p?d

12a (8) 'Sonata Beethoven composed for very little money'. I've got k?e?s?e? and know it's something to do with 'kleine'. Am thinking 'Kleisner' but can't get the link to 'very little money'.

22a (6) 'Dear old man's fit of ill humour'. I've got p?r?e?

Thanks

Hello again,

Thanks for your suggestions.

Can you get kreisler/Kreutzer to fit in with the clue at all? I'm still struggling.

12a: DD. The Beethoven sonata and a medieval German/Austrian coin.

22a: Definition is 'dear'. For old man think of soft drink. Remaining letters are a quite old and, now, obscure-ish word which sounds like it should be more friendly, or a type of companion.

I see oldreprobate's thinking. He might have added that the S in 12 and the R in 22 must be wrong for his ideas to work.

btw "The Kreutzer Sonata" has a complicated history. It originally was the Beethoven piece; Tolstoy based a novella (of the same name) on an artist trying to play it; Janacek then based his first string quartet (also called "The Kreutzer sonata") on the Tolstoy work.

I've finally filled in the grid but some of my parsing's a bit iffy.
