Hope this explanation is not too complicated , answer to this is found in words of a carol eg whats a pealing answer the bells are from ding dong merrily ( 3, 5, 3,
Not babes in the wood ( 4, 5 )
2. Invitation to become old hand is somewhat garbled ( 4, 3, 6 )

Carols I have left are O Holy night, chestnuts roasting, The holly and the ivy , joy to the world,

Become old hand is an anagram for:
Come and behold
That's a line from O come all ye faithful but might also be from one of your remaining titles.

As far as I can see, the phrase "Come and behold (him)"
occurs ONLY in "O Come All Ye Faithful", which leaves the problem that it's not one in your list!

I've even got out the hymn book but am not any the wiser!
I'm with Greedy kite in that I cannot find ''Come and behold...' anywhere other than in 'O Come All Ye Faithful'

A propos of nothing at all there was a rather good joke on the wireless yesterday - what is the carol for gluten allergic choirs - wheat free kings of orient are - sorry couldn't resist it
