Have been enjoying this site for a while-finally joined.I'm relatively new to cryptic crosswords. Can anyone help me with 11 Across? I wonder if I have the wrong letters for the first word so far:
---T-A---U-
Thanks!

Hi flossie, and welcome
It's always best to give the clue, as not everyone has the crossword. Also ? works better for missing letters, and give the letter count.

I think your letters look right. The confusing thing is that it isn't an English word.

Thank you! It is such a thrill to finally get an answer. I thought the first two words must be the definition but I wouldn't have got there without help. Thank you for the advice about using a ? rather than a dash.

I would appreciate further clues in the middle of the puzzle :- 19A "They're at a stage as tiny creature, one disheartened. "P***E. 32A "White fluid of former times" ** A **. 20D " To some degree lost in 36 Across. 29D "Apart from trapped reverse passage" ***E*P*
