Hi Jazzgirl!
I know this word was in use in 17th and 18th centuries but I feel such superlatives are unnecessary along with mostest and worstest the OED gives "chief" as " most important" Do you agree that the clue should have had an (arch) appended? Xx

I don't like chiefest either. However in Chambers 12th it is shown as an accepted superlative and no mention of archaic. I just hate it when someone mentions their bestest friend . Hope you are well. xx
