Found this quite a slog.
Determined nature of contest and who won.
However, frustratingly short of a full grid by cryptics in: D(ii) Rigid cut, accommodating no projecting pieces; D(iii) Aural symptoms - 33% reduction in confidence. Together these make O??EN?N?R?L?.
Any hints on these last two would be sorely appreciated.

Crackabilly, D(ii) is a 6-letter word ; think of projecting pieces of a wood joint.
D(iii) just remove first two letters of word meaning confidence . Rather an unusual word but is in Chambers (4-letters)
