Any help appreciated.

7 take all the "heart" out of "western", then put a weapon inside instead

21 Algerian city - remove O and replace with G

Thanks Chrise, the parsing is so obvious & these clues were easier to see than many of the others, I've been working on this puzzle for too long. But thanks to you I've finished at last, & can have a nice cup of tea..If you need any help on this just ask,

It turned up early this week, and was much easier than recent ones, I thought.

On the whole I agree but i'm still not happy with the parsing of 3 down & 16 across, but will wait until others have finished so as not to spoil their fun.

I've got most of 3d, just not sure where first and last letters come from.
I'm not convinced about 16a either, or 22a.

I think a bit of misdirection in 3down - look at the first 3 then the last one.


16 works fine.

22 works too.

3d is a case in point, with the swine inside but there is a superfluous as in the clue.
22a I agree with you as I've no idea who victoria is or was.

Thanks mamya - I see what you mean about 3d, and I've had another look at 16 too, and seen it.

Don't see how 22 works - perhaps I've got the answer wrong.

What do you make of the x/s unchecked ending in RT49?

Could it be Queen Victoria who was not anused?
