Having problems with the two shorties (24, 25). Any hints - not answers please - would be appreciated:-(

25 - 6 letter word for baby owl, then lose the "let"
24 - song is the def - breton here is a hat

Thanks S. I was on the right track with the German word for song minus E, but didn't connect the resulting three-letter word with Breton. As for a word for a baby owl, I thought it was 'owlet', so that gives me 'ow', where does the first letter come from please?

My baby owl is 'Howlet', given in Chambers.
